monkeys at typewriters

The best way to f* up a good idea is to put it to committee. This seems to be the recurring theme of late.

"a committee of experienced ______ and interested ______ worked to develop this ______."

Don't challenge it. A committee made it. We're not to blame. Instead of hiring an expert that could rely on practical and theoretical knowledge to implement a program while absorbing a semblance of accountability, we're going to use a handful of volunteers who may or may not know what they're talking about and may or may not have a hand in the finished product.

So this math series, which we are compelled to implement, is based on the premises that 1. my kids can read and 2. my kids know what fractions/decimals are. Premise #1 is debatable; #2 is doubtful. I question the exclusive use of this curriculum with no supplements (something even the publishers imply is a bad idea).

I am quickly reminded that "The District discourages its teachers from deviating from the assigned curriculum... which was designed by a committee of educators."

What the hell.
